The hall was sold to the Youth Hostel Association in 1948 which now offers family accommodation as well as wedding facilities. There are a number of ghosts here, one being a lady of the hall in the form of an old woman. She is also said to haunt the nearby crossroads where she was hanged for being a witch.

Televisions Most Haunted team paid a visit in 2002. Originally named The George, built in 1693, it was once a coaching inn. There have been reports of poltergeist activity which could be linked to a skull discovered in the cellar.
