Formerly the Railway Tavern, though not so old as some inns, the National Trust have taken on the care of this 1826 Gin Palace. The ghost here is named Amelia who is said to have been a prostitute who died on the premises when she fell down the stairs breaking her neck.

Built in the 13th century, the premises were used for numerous things including a gaol before becoming a hotel. There is thought to be two spirits, one named Button-Cap and the other, Maud who strokes the faces of sleeping guests.
