Said to be the haunt of Dorothy Forster, a woman from a reputable family who lived here in the 18th century.

Like many others, the castle is now a hotel and with so many spirits being active when re-enactments take place, it’s no wonder there are so many reports as staff dress in period costume. The spirit is said to be that of Lady Lily, the wife of Lord Ralph Lumley who had the castle built in 1392. She was murdered by priests and her body thrown down the well.

'Betty' who is said to be looking for her son who may well be the boy who has been heard crying in room 6. Along with cold spots, the sense of being watched or followed, there have been reports of the smell of tobacco in room 4. There is a video tour of the place on the website.
