The inn dates from 1556 but was moved from its original site in 1928 at Chester to where it sits today. It is the haunt of a young girl who was raped by the chef. He is said to have hanged himself with the rope mark still being in evidence on one of the beams.

The haunt of a former serving girl named Lizzie Dean. She committed suicide when her lover married someone else. Her last request was to be buried beneath the church path. Her wishes were not carried out and that is thought to be the reason why she still haunts her old place of work.
