Sir Walter Scott built the house which took eight years to complete. He died here in the dining room where his ghost has often been seen.
Aberconwy House Wales
Now in the hands of the National Trust, this is the oldest remaing house in Wales. Reputed to be haunted, National Trust staff and visitors have experienced paranormal phenomena.
Alfriston Clergy House East Sussex

Alnwick Castle Northumberland
Pronounced Annick, there is a very long and interesting history of the castle and its inhabitants at Haunted Castles and Hotels. It will also be a must visit for Harry Potter fans as this was where some of the filming took place.
Althorp Northamptonshire
There are few who do not know of the Spencer family and the home where Princess Diana spent some of her childhood that became her final resting place, interred on an island in the grounds. This is the haunt of what must be a really faithful retainer who checks on rooms where lights are left burning at night, just to make sure no one has fallen asleep with a candle burning.
Ampthill Great Park Bedfordshire
If you enjoy a stroll day or night, the park is said to be the haunt of a knight riding a white horse. He rides through the park and the area where the castle once stood.
Ardrossan Castle Scotland
Reputed to be the haunt of William Wallace who is said to be seen on stormy nights. The ruins sit sparse upon a hilltop over-looking the town that has sprung up. Wallace besieged the castle, killing the English garrison stationed there. Wallace was portrayed by Mel Gibson in the film Braveheart.
Ardvreck Castle Scotland
The ruins of what are left of the castle stand on the edge of Loch Assynt and now weddings can be arranged here. It is not surprising that it is reputed to be haunted as a neighbouring clan burned it to the ground in an act of revenge.
Arundel Castle West Sussex
The 'Blue Man' is a spirit from the era of Charles II's reign. Said to haunt the library, he is one of three ghosts.
Aston Hall West Midlands
The hall is said to be the haunt of many spirits, one being the daughter of a former owner. Falling in love below her station, she was locked in the upper rooms of the hall where she remained for over 40 years until her death.
